$20 challenge?????

June 18th, 2007 at 11:00 am

I'm really trying to learn about this $20 challenge...Thanks to all who have replied to me so far...

Question - where do you actually keep this $$?

Do you keep separate actual bank accounts? Or do you have different envelopes/jars/piggy banks in your house?

My $20 Challenge money goes towards my EF, so I keep mine in a separate account with ING Direct. They have a great interest rate, and I love that I can transfer money to it very quickly online.

I keep my actual cash and checks in a cash box. About once a month, I deposit it into my money market account that pays 5.25 % Interest. I keep track of the total on paper, right here by my computer. My balance today is $12,057.00

I don't even necessarily keep it all. I just track everything I have done differently to save more money. Most of it does go to my bank account (nor separated or anything) but some of it I spend too. Just tracking how much extra money we have made.

The only exception is if I come across some random windfall I only add it to the challenge if I put it straight to long-term savings. Because in the past I wouldn't have, and it is another change I strive for.

The cool thing is you can do it however you want!!!

I keep mine in a money mkt account...separate from my savings and checking account. This is designated as an EF fund for one of our homes.
